Fellow Patriots,
We are now in week 17 of the Hope for Survival Virtual Zoom Preparedness rallies. As we start to move through August , I continually reflect back over the past 16 weeks to the growth and bonding that has taken place between the Patriots attending. Learning, sharing, communicating and building. It is great seeing friendships and bonding develop.
One of the areas we have focused on is team building and leadership. Someone has to be a leader in every home and community. To develop on leadership we have been conducting training briefs from attending members to help individuals gain confidence and learn to speak in front of others (virtually). If one can't speak before others and convince them of the information being shared, how will they ever lead a family or community during a crisis? Especially when times are tense and stress is increased. Above all this has been fun to watch.
This weeks Zoom will include a weekly news update, a few preparedness topics on choosing your body armor and different types of optics to consider. We then go in to the group "chitter chatter" time where all attendees participate together on topics of interest they table. This is a great time together.
Some of the success stories transpiring from the HFS Thursday Zoom rallies is one of our ladies who is just by chance a senior, was a marksman with a BB pistol and had not fired a firearm previously. Through the Zoom classes and HFS YouTube videos, she stepped up to take the all day class for her concealed carry permit which required firing a pistol. She not only fired 35 rounds to qualify, she put 33 of 33 rounds in the bullseye and the remaining two rounds on target center skull. She has since purchased her first pistol and rifle and is legally licensed to carry for self-protection. A few other attendees stepped up and purchased a pressure canner and has since canned meat and vegetables to build on their food plan. Several folks didn't have emergency plans previously and now they do. The list goes on. The best part of this group is they are in nine different seven different states and they have bonded quickly as preparers helping one another while building good friendships.
