Greetings and welcome to the PENL Edition #95. It is still hard for me to believe 95 weeks ago I started this newsletter with no real destination or inclination to how long it would last. Here we are in week 95 and still moving ahead. Thanks for joining in and being a part of the HFS movement to become self-reliant and prepared.
It was a great week and extremely nice having last weekend off to rest and recover after 21 straight work days. Ms. Lucy and I just hung out in Huntsville, AL and chilled a bit. This always includes some sort of great food and a good book.
As most of you know, I love reading and believe it is a very important part of the total preparedness effort. We can learn many things from others. So why try to reinvent a new method on something that has already been tried and tested or failed during testing. You can also take notes from your book and learn about resources, websites, and methods of doing task. It is also relaxing as well. I just finished off a great read from Clay Martin titled "The Concrete Jungle." Clay is a retired Green Beret and he offers his perspective on training and being prepared in the current environment we face in America. Caution to the eyes...it does have a little profanity in it.
I had the opportunity to have a working lunch meeting with the Huntsville, AL Group leader to discuss plans for the upcoming team meeting. He shared some documents he created to aid in collecting team information such as skills, needs and desired training needed. I appreciate this Patriots motivation and efforts to move the group/team concept forward. I also got to have breakfast with two other Huntsville Patriots during my time in Huntsville. It was great to share time and discuss preparedness plans for their family. I'm honored and blessed to be associated with so many Patriot sisters and brothers.

Thursday Zoom Rallies – We had Zoom Rally series #40 with a HFS special guest speaker who provided an outstanding brief on building lettuce rafts and then on soil blocking. Next weeks HFS guest speaker will discuss Bee Keeping. HFS appreciates the information and time our guest spent preparing the excellent information. I appreciate everyone who attended and participated in conversation on the topics covered. We continue moving forward on group building in multiple states and regions. Ding, Ding, Ding....Attention HFS readers..... Opinions shared in this newsletter are just that, opinions, and nothing more. Read at your own risk. The owner and author of this site is not responsible for hurt feelings or thin-skinned readers. I do my best to show restraint and respect to the best extent possible. I take as many precautions as possible and try to remain as nonpolitical as possible, however, there are times when I just can't help but point certain things out. Occasionally I use words only Patriots recognize and understand. It's not personal against any non-Patriot. It's just the truth. Sometimes we must pull up our spenders and suck it up. Just saying. Stay the course, read what you want, and avoid the rest. Avoid fear porn as much as possible and the day will be okay. When all else fails… Keep the faith and always have Hope.
As HFS continues to grow, I believe it's important to remind everyone respect and honor is important to the HFS family and mission. We welcome everyone aboard and hope you find a comfortable place to hang around and learn preparedness. I know you will find the HFS family offers some amazing people. With multiple platforms (Zoom, Signal, and Comment section in articles) to interact with other HFS members, I remind everyone to treat one another with respect. We all come from different backgrounds, ages, experiences, and desires. Disrespecting, demeaning or intimidating comments will not be tolerated on any account.
Let’s move along and get to some thoughts...
Thoughts for the week –
My squirrel friend Wilson stopped by for a chat this week and I was explaining all the crazy things going on in our nation. I told Wilson things seemed like a "soup-sandwich" and out of the norm. He asked me "what is a soup-sandwich?" I explained how in my former life, especially when deployed, I used to say "this is as bad as a soup-sandwich" or "he/she is put together like a soup-sandwich" very often. Well, I must say it carried over to my post-military and current life. What does "soup-sandwich" mean? It means someone or something that is not as it should be; something disorganized or unfished. I told him how today, I believe we are in line to the world's largest soup sandwich buffet. I explained:
We currently live in a nation where our government has decided we do not need to protect our border and illegal-immigrants should have free passage in to our nation and breaking all existing immigration laws. No mask or Covid-19 vaccinations. Oh wait, under another former President illegal-immigrants got free passage way across our nations southern border without any vaccination requirements. Our most recent former President just spent $20 billion dollars to secure our border and now our tax paid dollars for the wall appear wasted. No accountability. Its just money, right? I believe this is a serious "soup-sandwich."
Another "soup-sandwich" we are living through is in Washington D.C.. The same group of government officials who claim we do not need a southern border fence to protect our nation are the same government officials who are building a fence around the Capitol Building or "the peoples house" to protect the elected government from the people who own the house and pays the salaries of the elected officials. What part of this makes logical sense?
Would it be easier to stack marbles or figure out the truths we are living in today? I almost felt terrified for a split second while listening to Congress Lady AOC-NY tell her story of how she feared for her life during the Capital riots. She feared being killed. This is terrible. Even more terrible is the fact she was not even in the capitol building during this period. She was two buildings down from the Capitol. I do believe this is a "soup-sandwich."
In the world we live today our nation has decided if you are a Patriot who loves this great nation and who flies your flag and pledge your allegiance to the flag, you are labeled an extremist or a white supremacist. WHAT??? Get that? Fact. Your faith and love for your nation are being sought out and labeled. The new Secretary of Defense has announced a 60 day stand-down to identify extremist within the military and flush them out. I proudly served for 20 years. Retired honorably. Received two Air Force level Awards and four Command Level Awards and now my former employer has labeled me a white extremist and part of a hate group. I thought the military was to defend my 1st and 2nd Amendment rights against all foreign and domestic threats. Shall I continue?
Do you ever cut your windshield wipers on during a rain storm and wonder if new wipers would help your view ahead appear clearer? It is often comical when we look back on how we maybe took part in a movement or fad? How about the "Make America Great Again" movement? Or the "Rocky Balboa" movement? I am personally guilty of the disco craze with deck shoes, silk shirts, polyester pants while looking like a wind chime trying to pretend dance to the disco ball lights flashing to the beat of Saturday Night Fever and the Bee Gees. That was me. Had I looked through my windshield wipers back then I would never have identified what was ahead of me and our nation. How about you? I was certainly a "soup-sandwich" back during that chapter of life.
Why is Chinese President Xi Ping telling the Chinese Communist controlled media the U.S. has a gun problem and the U.S. Government should do like China and restrict gun ownership? It is very interesting how similar the Chinese government and political left of the U.S. Government are on gun restrictions to U.S. citizens. I also find it interesting how fluent former President Trump's grandchildren are speaking Mandarin Chinese. Did I say Ms. Lucy makes great Chinese food? She doesn't speak Mandarin though and she does not have a problem keeping her firearm safe and secure. .
Do you know former President Trump was nominated over the past 4 years for five Nobel Peace Prizes? That's right. The USA was extremely close to the biggest peace deal in US history. Didn't you hear this on your local evening news? Oh wait, I bet you heard about Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Stacy Abrams are being nominated for the NPP. Candidate A. Worked for free and kept his nation from any new wars or conflicts during his four years in office. Candidate B. Burned multiple US cities causing billions in damage and other took part in the Georgia election fiasco and never conceded her loss to the sitting Governor Kemp. Yes. A qualified Soup sandwich for sure. It just keeps getting better huh?
Personally, I'm still baffled by the crazy decisions justifying allowing boys to be girls and now compete in athletic events as females. Sideburns and all. Why do we not hear any female activist groups defending the rights of females? Why are more parents not standing at the base of the Capitol in Washington D.C. protesting these changes? Since when is the human element smarter than the proof at birth to what sex a being is? Another "soup sandwich" amongst many.
If this isn't enough, after watching the nation attempt to destroy the President and ruin him and his family, everyone laughed and called his accusations of the cabal attempting to oust a sitting President who just received 70 million votes. All points and comments got ridiculed as one conspiracy after another. People who read and made social media comments on the same points are being identified and rounded up as extremist. As we stand today and wonder what the future holds, those of us who are self-reliant to provide for our own family during events impacting our way of life are now being labeled extremist. Patriots who are responsible and respect family, country, and the Constitution of the United States are no longer accepted in the current mindset of our great nation. Is it a extremist view when you are within your Constitutional right to disagree with current views of a new political movement and ideology? As I stated in the beginning of my book, Hope for Survival, I'm not antigovernment, I just don't agree with the direction our nation is headed. Like you, I love my country, it's foundation, and what we have stood for over many years. Like any previous period in our history, if we aren't happy with the direction we are headed we must take steps to correct the direction. We must first ensure our home is fixed, then our community. We must identify the steps to participate in our town halls and city council meetings. Find candidates who represent our values and morals and get them elected. Like any other time in our history, fix the things you can impact and move for change. While we are doing these steps we must continue to be grounded in our faith and preparedness steps. A lot of other disastrous events can occur to impact our way of life outside of Washington D.C. We the People make this a great nation.
The buffet line serving the recipe of what appears to be the new America will stay the same with no action or else change through we the people. Even with questionable violations of the Constitution, things will only change with our voices and efforts. This my Patriot sisters and brothers will remain a serious soup-sandwich if we cower down and close the curtains. Wilson agreed.

I'm not sure of a cost comparable between these meals and ones you purchase already made and packaged. It would be worthwhile to learn the time to prepare, long term storage and total cost.
3. From Mic Roland - Can You Run Your Refrigerator From Batteries? – Mic Roland (mic-roland.com) - If you don't have your home on a emergency generator you may want to check this out to keep your fridge running during emergencies.
4. From Bryan Lynche - Survival Cache - How To Make Dandelion Bread for Preppers: Quick Recipe - Survival Cache - This is a good one to add to your printed library for future recipes.
5. From Pat Henry - The Preppers Journal - Go Bag: Building the Perfect Emergency Go Bag - The Prepper Journal - By now, everyone should have a Go Bag to carry in their automobile. I like to collect lots of checklist on this topic to cross reference with existing bag.

2. From NC Scout - American Partisan - Natural News: Chinese military funneled millions to American universities | American Partisan - I'm shocked this is just now making the news. Nearly a billion dollars piped from China to US Universities. At least $700 million dollars went to the Joe Biden Foundation at Penn State, Univ of Texas and other major US universities.
3. From Martin Armstrong - Armstrong Economics - Forecasts | Armstrong Economics - This is one of several financial sites I like to follow for global and national economic topics.

5. J.W. Rawles - Survival Blog - Biden Our Time: Surviving Four Years of Leftist-Democrat Domination (survivalblog.com) - Great read from one of my favorite Preparers over at Survival Blog. JWR is also the author of the Patriots book. He offers some good thoughts on surviving the next four years of the JB - KH Administration.

From Josh Green - American Thinker - The Real Constitutional Crisis is Upon Us - American Thinker - If you haven't tabbed The American Thinker as one you regularly check out weekly you want to do so.
