Fellow Patriots,
I would like to introduce another new author to Hope For Survival. Welcome Mountain Rose.
Ultimate Preparedness
It’s the beginning of a New Year. It’s 2020, and I’m wondering where did the time go?
We all get busy. Life at times seems so full of demands on us and our time. There are deadlines at school or the office. People need our attention, whether they are family or friends. Piles of work at home- it could be laundry, or bills waiting to be paid. Maybe you have a sick child or loved one, which saps a lot of your time and energy. AND, what is the latest skill set you are working on for preparedness?
None of these things in and of themselves are a bad thing. But when you add them all up, life at times can seem overwhelming. That’s when it’s time to stop, pause, reflect and PRAY. Reach out to the One who Loves you more than anyone else, and knows you completely.
Is faith in God a part of your life? I think we are all interested in and working towards preparedness here. Are you prepared for the days ahead? And, is there more after TEOTWAKI? If I or my loved ones don’t survive, where will we be? If God were to ask “Why should I let you into Heaven?” What would your answer be? Where will you end up after your physical life is over?
Maybe you would say “I’ve been a good person. I’m kind to others.”
Romans 3:23 says: “For all have sinned and fall short of the kingdom of God.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are you saved through faith, and not of yourselves, it’s the gift of God - not of works lest any man should boast.”
When the New Testament mentions sin the word used most is “hamartia”, which means to miss the mark. Have you ever missed the mark when shooting at a target? Sin is like that.
Is Sin a Big Deal?
It is. It separates us from a Holy God who is perfect.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life thru Jesus Christ our Lord.”
I’ve done some terrible things. Can God forgive me?
The Bible talks about the forgiveness of God in many places, for all kinds of sin. We humans categorize levels of wrong doing, or sin, but in God’s eyes there aren’t degrees of sin. Jesus forgave the woman at the well. His words to her were this: “Go call your husband”. When she told Jesus she had no husband He said “You are right. You’ve had 5 husbands, and the man you currently live with is not your husband.”
She was amazed at the fact that He knew everything about her, ran back to town, told people there that “He told me everything I ever did”. So many people of the town believed because of her testimony. Read John 4 to see this for yourself.
Also consider Israel’s King David. He was called “a man after God’s own heart.” He wrote many of the Psalms. He wanted Bathsheba for his own, and had her Husband placed at the most dangerous station in battle so he would be killed. Nathan the prophet confronted him about this.
Second Samuel 12:1-13 is where this happens. Psalm 51 records David’s words of repentance to God.
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world (that’s you - and me) that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
So how can you know God? How can you know that you will go to Heaven when you die?
First John 1:9 “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Romans 10:9-10 “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 “Whoever Calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”
John 1:12” To all who receive Him, to those who believe in His name, He gives the right to become children of God.”
Are you prepared for eternity? It’s the ultimate in preparedness.
You can pray now, confessing to God you know you are a sinner. Believe in your heart that Jesus died to pay for your sins, was raised from the dead on the third day, and you will be saved. Tell God you want Him to be the Lord of your life.
He loves you completely and fully. He wants everyone to come to Him through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
Matthew 18:14 “He is not willing that any should perish.”
If you have prayed today to receive Jesus - Welcome to the family of God!
I would encourage you to start reading the Bible. Read the Gospel of John first. Pray, asking God to help you understand what you are reading.
Find other Christian believers. Share with them that you have asked God to be a part of your life, and made Him Lord. Find a church with a Pastor that believes and preaches from the Bible.
And spend time talking with God through prayer. He wants us to spend time with Him. Stay in conversation with God, praying in the name of Jesus.
Second Peter 3:18 says, “But grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
