Good morning and a blessed and happy Easter to everyone. Our prayers are with each of you on this special holiday.
Happy Anniversary Hope for Survival. From this end, it is pretty amazing that we have made it one year. Fifty-two straight weeks a combination of nine authors has posted a combination of over 320 articles. Additionally, we have had no less than 5,000 site visits. We know that number is higher because the 5,000 visits would be hits to the main page and not visits straight to the webpage articles that I send you links to read weekly. Regardless, I would never have imagined this a possibility.
When this all started, I knew nothing about managing a website much less putting one together. One year later I’m still learning and often confused by a lot of the lingo used. Thanks to everyone for your continued support each week as you stop by to read items posted. Hard to believe this week’s Patriot Express Newsletter Edition #52 is the anniversary edition. Sounds strange huh? When I started this adventure, I didn’t know how it would turn out or how long it would last. This would not have been possible without so much help from eight other writers (East Coast Gal, TazLady, Gypsy Trailblazer, Mountain Momma, Mountain Rose, Jager, Gun Smoke, and Festus. Amazing friends and efforts by everyone. Lots of hours behind the scenes by Festus helping continually read through news and articles feeding me information. The new friends who continually encourage me to stay the course and live the dream that I enjoy so much. But, none of this would be possible without the support and encouragement of Ms. Lucy.
It has been a great year for sure. Ms. Lucy and I thank you for the time, support, friendship and lots of communication that we have shared. I have learned so much about so many of you through time shared at Heritage Life Skills and/or other events, as well as meeting through the website and then communicating via email. Time has permitted me to meet up with several of you and stay in a few Patriot homes. Thank you so much. My life is better having met you. Thanks for the chance to share the skills and things I have learned over the years as well as learn from each of you. Hopefully we all are in a better position today than one year ago. Congratulations to our super finalist. Remember, the objective was to tell their preparedness story and share how the book and/or website, Hope or Survival, helped them out in some way. I will tell you upfront this was very tough to separate a single clear cut winner. The finalist submitted excellent stories about their preparedness journey. After reading and breaking down a few points that was needed for clarification, we had to decide how to balance preparedness efforts as a continuation in one's life vs a person who had zero preparedness mindset and was completely converted from a non-preparer to a converted mindst and preparer based on the book and website. This person has completed a total mind-set change which I talk indepth about in the book and numerous articles. So, while a committed preparer was working through plans a new preparer is working through a new mindset and determining a path forward.
After review and all comments considered I decided to break things in to three categories and identified the three winners. Ms. Lucy and I congratulate the following winners. They are:

HEALTH ALERT: The Coronavirus awareness level should have increased during the recent weeks. Like I have said previously, there is no need to panic but folks should remain ALERT to their news and surroundings as well as guidance from the national leadership. The daily numbers continue climbing and we expect this to continue. The US of A now leads all nations in number of C-virus infected personnel and will surpass the total number of deaths shortly. I’m not a doctor or expert but I do not think this is going to end anytime soon. If you are healthy count your blessings. Zoom Rallies – As announced last week, to try and continue providing the opportunity for virtual social gathering, discussing preparedness topics, and training, we held our first zoom preparedness virtual rally last evening and it was a blast. We had 13-15 Patriot sisters and brothers from 6 states who for the most part met for the first time. The event was scheduled for two hours and it lasted over three hours and was still moving forward as we tired. We enjoyed discussions on current events such as the Covid 19, a surveillance state, food availability, gardening/farming, soil and planting, turkey hunting, self-defense and crime. I look forward to our meeting next Thursday, same time, and same place. If you would like to participate please message me and I will get the information and pass code to you. A big thanks to those who joined us for the meeting. It felt good to spend time with like minded friends.

I think we may have bad a “abracadabra” pulled on us. Do you ever get that gut feeling something just doesn’t add up? Kind of like the grandson who shakes his head no when asked if he devoured the last chocolate cookie while the evidence covers his lips and cheeks. We are living in during a period where one must ask if everything being presented to our ears is the truth. Food shortages. Folks eating out vs eating at home. Now folks must eat at home and stores must adjust to more quantity of food. This impacts food chain supplies. Remember the supply chain “just in time” ordering and stocking? The demand for larger quantities in stores is putting a lot of pressure on the system. Some believe we are one disaster away from a major food catastrophe in America. Now, add all the disasters in 2018 and 2019 impacting our crops and animals. Now, we have less resources to provide food and more demand for food. What happens next?

Festus provided this link to me on a video recorded in 2015. This is Bill Gates giving a brief on the Coronavirus and potential toll it could take. Festus provided some good analysis of his take on the video. “Listen to this carefully. He says some things that a lot of people may miss and the depth of what he is saying. I.E. Phone uses.” Remember, this is in 2015. Festus further stated “If the numbers in the brief are accurate then was the model reverse engineered to get to the historical number? How good are the models today? Are they simply models or propaganda tools?” Consider things he is talking about that are in full view today. Good job, Festus. Well said and analyzed. Interestingly enough several governors recently commented on using tools available to them to track cell phone movements throughout their states. Have you heard of what is being called “Immunity Passport” where you must have a new vaccine (not created yet….really?) for Covid 19 before you can leave your home and rejoin society. This is a Dr. Fauci and Bill Gates driven mission. If you don’t recognize the name, Dr. Fauci is the doctor taking center stage each day President Trump to talk the daily Covid 19 update. He is also a huge Clintonite supporter. Think about this, a vaccine will likely not be available for 18 months…so what will we do in the wait time? Imagine you are out of food or need money from your bank or want to cross a state line to visit a parent…..but you do not have the Immunity Passport. You are denied your request to move forward. Think it sounds crazy? Better tighten your seat belt because it’s about to get interesting. No vaccine, no passport. No passport, no participation with society.

Smile!!! Your digital footprint continues being created. Your credit card chip. Your automobile electronic features. Your social media footprint. Your digital purchases. Your digital medical records. Your face is being photographed and collected while then being cross-checked with millions of pictures collected by public cameras such as Wal-Mart, Target, and other locations. Sounds like China huh? Your current government recently stated we need a national surveillance system for diseases and vaccinations based on the framework used for the Patriot Act post 911.

The Covid 19 is forcing many communities and states to release prisoners from jails and prisons yet your neighbor can call and turn you in for violating the social distancing order or you can be stopped, fined, and/or jailed for ignoring the governors order to stay at home.

Civic life and the economy are in a stark, staring, terror-stricken panic. The details are fascinating but unhelpful. "What's next" is the question that matters. We know this is just the beginning, the lowery sky and chill wind before the storm. The gloomy preppers had it right. Now we'll see if the doomer preppers have it right as well.
All preppers learn from the past and present to prepare for the future. Stockpiling alone is not prepping. Committed preppers have mastered food gardening and dehydration and home canning, they've trained and equipped for medical care beyond first aid, they're well practiced with firearms and preparing game, experienced in woodcraft, can do credible carpentry with only hand tools, and so forth.
But opportunities are closing as an effect of the lockdown. One vivid example: garden supplies, including seeds, have been declared non-essential and can no longer be sold by Walmart and Target in Vermont .
Beyond prepping comes self-sufficiency. This means an off-grid homestead. It's a hard and austere life of relentless but rewarding labor, a step too far for most. Some form tiny communities with members selected for critical expertise. After self-sufficiency comes survivalism, a set of skills and practices to endure or outlast extreme events in hostile environments, long term, using minimal kit and as-found resources. This is too demanding for all but the hardiest among us.
Which you choose depends on what you believe is next. But have a care, what comes next may make the choice for you. It's best to be decently prepared on all fronts.
For my part it's as it's always been, continuous tweaking. If it comes to hoofing it, I've upgraded my bugout bag from three day capability to four without adding much weight. Next up is improving my water pre-filter kit. What I have on hand is good enough, this is a convenience thing. I use coffee filters, they're good for removing gunk down to ten or fifteen microns, which relieves the purification filter of the additional loading and delays clogging.
Too much? Not enough? As I said, events will make the call.
