Patriot Express Newsletter Edition #128

Fellow Patriots,

Greetings and welcome to the Patriot Express Newsletter Edition #128. Thank you for stopping by to share your time with HFS. We are happy to have you with us. It is hard to believe this will be the last newsletter for September 2021 as we roll in to October.2021. We the people have now been knee-deep in this Coronavirus/Covid-19 battle for 18 months. That is using March 2020 as the starting point in the US of A. I do realize it surfaced prior to the above date. So here we are posting and you reading PENL edition #128. To me, that is one hundred and twenty eight straight weeks without missing a week, rain or shine. It takes about 20 hours per week to draft and one PENL together and get it posted here. That is 2,460 hours over 128 weeks. Wow. I have never calculated it out before. If you have read all 128 editions please drop me a note to let me know. I enjoy hearing from fellow Patriots.

This edition of the PENL is loaded with tons of information. Please make sure you read through and check out the items listed in the Other News section. Especially on the Gun Confiscation Bill currently moving through our Government.

One of my favorite parts to Hope for Survival is meeting so many great American Patriots. Through these meetings I get to communicate via email and in person to share thoughts and life's blessings. I received the below photos from two of our Patriot sisters during their travel on family vacations this week. I always hope our Patriots travel well prepared and have safe adventures. I do believe these Patriots are doing just that. I'm honored they would be advertising Hope for Survival on their journey. Thanks much and thank you for sharing these pictures with us here at HFS. Blessings and safe travels. Enjoy your vacations. This is super cool.

Just as a reminder, September 19, 2021 was the 225th Anniversary of George Washington's famous farewell address. He made three distinct remarks in the address we all should be reminded of and remember during these turbulent times we live through.

1. Importance of Unity

After opening with an explanation of his choice not to seek a third term, Washington’s farewell address urged Americans not to put their regional and sectional interests above the interests of the nation as a whole. “You have in a common cause fought and triumphed together,” Washington declared. “The Independence and Liberty you possess are the work of joint counsels, and joint efforts, of common dangers, sufferings, and successes.”

Regions such as North, South, East and West should see their common interests rather than their differences, he continued. “Your Union ought to be considered as a main prop of your liberty and...the love of the one ought to endear you to the preservation of the other.”

2. The 'Worst Enemy' of Government: Loyalty to Party Over Nation

According to Washington, one of the chief dangers of letting regional loyalties dominate loyalty to the nation as a whole was that it would lead to factionalism, or the development of competing political parties. When Americans voted according to party loyalty, rather than the common interest of the nation, Washington feared it would foster a “spirit of revenge,” and enable the rise of “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men” who would “usurp for themselves the reins of government; destroying afterwards the very engines, which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

In fact, political parties had already begun to emerge by the time Washington stepped aside. Federalists, who drew their support largely from New England, advocated a strong national government and the fiscal programs created by Hamilton, the nation’s first secretary of the treasury. Republicans (later Democratic-Republicans) led by Southerners like Thomas Jefferson and Madison, opposed Hamilton’s economic policies. They also split with the Federalists in foreign policy, favoring a closer relationship with France over Great Britain.

Washington supported Hamilton’s financial programs and sided with the Federalists in supporting the Jay Treaty with Britain. By the end of his presidency, Washington was weathering increasingly bitter attacks from his Republican critics, and his farewell address represented his response to such attacks, as well as a more general statement of his principles.

3. Danger of Foreign Entanglements

Just as regionalism would lead to the formation of political parties, Washington believed, partisanship would open the door to “foreign influence and corruption.” While he advocated for the United States to be on good terms with all nations, especially commercial relations, he argued that “inveterate antipathies against particular Nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded.”

Europe had its own, very complicated, set of interests, and the United States should keep its distance from European affairs, Washington believed. A foreign policy based on neutrality was the safest way to maintain national unity, and stability, in the United States. Although Washington saw the need for the nation to involve itself in foreign affairs in the case of war or other emergency, he argued that it must “steer clear of permanent alliances with any portion of the foreign world.”

Hope for Survival now a Satellite Phone Affiliate - The month of September is National Preparedness Month and it was a great time to launch the HFS affiliation with the Satellite Phone store. I can share numerous reasons why a Satellite Phone fits great in your preparedness plans. I have described the reasons in the first two newsletters posted in PENL 125 and 126. If and when a disaster strikes, I personally want every tool available to me for surviving and keeping my family and friends safe. It is that simple.

Owning a Satellite Phone offers a great communication advantage to a Family Communication Plan. Several of our HFS Patriots jumped on this deal over the past 90 days. Here is a link to more information on this topic. Hope for Survival - Satellite Phone Affiliate If you have decided you want a satellite phone already, go to the HFS website main page or blog page to find a box on the upper left and right sides. They are preloaded with the HFS Code. Check it out here as well :Blog | Survival (hopeforsurvival.com) If you have any questions please feel free to email me at Preparedness101@hopeforsurvival.com These phones are available until they sell out. If you purchased a phone already or plan to do so, watch this short video as Justin walks you through some simple steps to assist you. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3.

Thursday Zoom Rallies – HFS Zoom Rally #68 was conducted with topics covering more "what ifs" in the preparedness world. This is a time where preparedness attendees get to demonstrate knowledge and their planning mindset to discuss actions they may consider taking based on the exercise scenario. We also covered cover and concealment and how to apply it, especially in a threat situation. We then conducted our chatter that matters session. It was great spending time together for our weekly zoom rally. Thanks to those who attended.

Hope for Survival YouTube - HFS posted two new videos last week on the HFS YouTube channel at the below link. For the new Patriots you will find many helpful videos on canning, food preparedness, security and defense in depth, firearm safety discussions, canning meat, and other important topics. HFS Digital Football Stick - In the event you have not been a part of the Thursday Zoom Rallies, read my books, or watched my most recent HFS YouTube video on the Digital football and how to build one, you can check it out here. https://youtu.be/x5L0bj6YXyw While you are there consider subscribing to the HFS YouTube channel. Several folks asked me to do the video to explain how to do the digital football. Since then, several folks commented it was to hard or they didn't have the computer skills to do it. So, if we can get enough interest from HFS Patriots, I will get HFS monogrammed USB Memory Sticks and load the digital football on the stick for you and then mail them out to you. Then all you would need to do is scan all your important documents and load them in the prebuilt folders on the stick I would send to you. I can't tell you the exact price until I know how many memory sticks I need to order. But, we need at least 25 or more request for order. I would estimate for the stick and shipping it would run about $20 roughly.

If you think you would like to have one of the sticks please email me at preparedness101@protonmail.com in the next few days to let me know your interest. You can order more than one if you desire. They would make a great Christmas gift to go along with one or both of the HFS books on preparedness. If we have enough, I will get the sticks ordered and get them completed for you.

Moving along …

If you are a guest or newcomer to the HFS journey, please check out this link for additional

Hope for Survival books: The holidays are approaching quickly and now is a great time to order and receive copies of my two preparedness books. In the past HFS members purchase books for family members who may be in their early stages of preparedness. It is also a good time to purchase books because all proceeds off the books goes to a local charity to fund food for those in need. The number in need today is high and they will go higher going in to winter as many work seasonal jobs or others who are losing jobs because of no vaccination. HFS donates the largest amount to this cause during the holiday period to help ensure all families will have a good meal over Thanksgiving and/or Christmas. HFS is very appreciative to past purchases of my books to help support this growing need.

You can obtain information on the two HFS books at this link: Survival, Preparedness, Disaster Management for individuals or family (hopeforsurvival.com)

Hope for Survival - How Food, Water, Shelter, and Security Could Save Your Life (Book 1)

Hope for Survival - The Mindset (Book 2)

We must make this brief public announcement to protect the innocent.

Ding, Ding, Ding....Attention HFS readers..... Opinions shared in this newsletter are just that, opinions, and nothing more. Read at your own risk. The owner and author of this site is not responsible for hurt feelings or thin-skinned readers. I do my best to show restraint and respect to the best extent possible. I take as many precautions as possible and try to remain as nonpolitical as possible, however, there are times when I just can't help but point certain things out. Occasionally I use words only Patriots recognize and understand. It's not personal against any non-Patriot. It's just the truth. Sometimes we must pull up our spenders and suck it up. Just saying. Stay the course, read what you want, and avoid the rest. Avoid fear porn as much as possible and the day will be okay. When all else fails… Keep the faith and always have Hope.

Let’s move along and get to some thoughts...

Thoughts for the week

It was another busy week at Hope for Survival. Ms. Lucy and I had the honor of having Festus spend the weekend with us here in East TN. In the 24 hours we got to spend together discussing the world today, preparedness, and planning the months ahead for HFS. Oh, food. It was great to throw some steaks on the grill and have a nice peaceful dinner on the deck. Ms. Lucy can put a great spread together.

During the time we didn't have food in front us we discussed concerns with current and future AI (artificial intelligence) impacts on law abiding Patriots going forward. This is an important area folks should be including in their preparedness package. If you are asleep or ignoring it, you are going to find yourself trapped inside the digital "gotcha" with no way out. One can stand firm and express their thoughts without many of the threats and key words that is going to get pinged in the "buzz word" trap.

We also spent time discussing ongoing issues with developing a communication plan between HFS communities. It is being worked and slowly moving forward. As I shared with Festus, even in the military communication issues never got resolved quickly. It takes time, testing, equipment, funding, and human knowledge to understand how the equipment works.

We both agreed on the importance of individuals continuing to focus on learned skills and if one does not have basic skills they should immediately find local training to pick up any skills possible. Having resources is great however if you can't use the equipment or fix basic equipment as it breaks around your property you will be in trouble down the road. The theme song to the classic 1980s movie by Ray Parker JR., "Ghost Busters" comes to mind. Except change the lyrics to sing "Who you gonna call? No body" instead of "Who you gonna call, Ghost Busters."

Festus shared a video discussing a hot topic regarding the rights of citizens and the limitations of the government. We have many Patriots caught in a bind right now over the vaccination or losing their job. It seems we may be not getting the entire truth of our rights. Take the time to check out this video to educate yourself. Know your rights, the rights of the government, and the responsibilities of your employer.

Those you who attend the weekly HFS Zoom rally probably believe we conduct the "what if" exercises with you all only. I would like you to know Festus and I also play the same "what if" drills with things we are seeing and believe could be likely events to come. I would guess our sessions get just a bit more intense. Just saying.

I took a quick trip to Waynesville, NC to conduct a needed meeting with the HFS Waynesville and Frank/Dill Group leaders. This was short notice and I thank the group leaders for making their schedules work in order to have this meeting. I will schedule another Waynesville trip soon to have lunch with those who would like to get together. I had to move the Waynesville trip earlier in the week to adjust for another trip I needed to make to the central part of West Virginia for a family event.

Ms. Lucy and I will be in West Virginia with family to celebrate Ms. Lucy's mommas birthday and enjoy the annual West Virginia University football game against Oklahoma University Saturday evening. We are bigtime fans and supporters of our home state university and rarely miss a football or basketball game.

Speaking of Oklahoma University, shortly after Festus arrived to our home, we stood outside chatting after watching the West Virginia vs Virginia Tech game which was another big game for us this year. At first I thought it was a nightmare or else a terrorist had invaded our neighborhood because a strange looking guy was driving up our street wearing a Oklahoma University hat and t-shirt. We live in Tennessee Volunteer country which is bright orange. This guy was totally out of place. As the vehicle got closer I realized the terrorist was actually Jager heading out of the neighborhood. I told him they will let anyone drive the streets dressed up for Halloween. Ha. Actually, Jager is a loyal Sooner fan and his son once played for the Sooners and Jager has family and friends still in Oklahoma as well. We also have several HFS loyal readers from Oklahoma so I will cut them some slack. It had been a while since I had the honor of standing in the presence of Jager and Festus together. My reputation will never be the same. Kidding of course. They are both true Patriots. I digress.

I did get to see another HFS Patriot brother here in my neighborhood who was out walking. It was wonderful to see him out moving around after a week in the hospital with Covid pneumonia. We are so glad he is home and both he and his Patriot wife are both past the dreaded Covid-19. Our prayers remain with this family and many others.

Next .....

I would like to revert back to one of my thoughts from last weeks PENL #127 where I discussed some of the issues Patriots are encountering with family members and friends over their choice to not get vaccinated. This is a tough topic because it is real and painful for so many. Since I wrote shared that thought I have received more individuals facing the same issue. Folks, this is real and it is happening across the nation. If you haven't detected it, there is a very large division within our country and it is growing larger. It is painful to hear these stories. Ms. Lucy and I are dealing with some of the same issues but we are blessed in that currently a respect exists in the freedom to make the choice we as individuals feel is best for us based on the information at hand. This is not the case for many others. As I have clearly stated previously, I may not agree with a choice, I greatly respect a persons right to freely decide on their own. There is enough pressure being placed on people through their jobs and the government.

I had a conversation with a fellow Patriot in the past week where he laid it out to me the pain this was causing within his family and a close friend. We like to believe our relationship is solid and unbreakable from any outside cause. Then, something like a vaccine surfaces and we learn just how fragile a relationship becomes. In some cases one would believe the damage caused cannot be repaired. Even if it is repaired, the memory remains. In the case of our Patriot brother, he and his wife are not allowed to be exposed to their only grandchild. Think about that if you are a grandparent. As a parent, you can no longer be around your children or grandchild because of a choice made that the parents believe is in the best interest of their own life. Folks I am hearing these stories daily now.

The conversation included a good discussion on leadership and the question was asked "why aren't we seeing anyone step up to be a leader of the Pro Constitution Patriotic right. We have talked about this for several months on HFS and in our Thursday Zoom weekly zoom rallies. Our Patriot brother, like many others, asked the million dollar question about who is our leader? We are living through a period where it seems we are a lost ship at sea with no Captain or direction. I get it.

Let me ask a general question. Over the past 20 years tell me one period of time when we had a leader in Washington D.C? I know, I know. We had eight years of Bush and four years of Trump. You are right. They both wore the uniform of the party we supported and voted for, right? That's right. The right. Yes, we got two major wars casting trillions of dollars, thousands of deaths and so on. I voted for both men. We also had periods of their reign where we had control of both the Congress and Senate, right? We heard the words "balanced budget" and "end Obama Care" and the protection of our rights and freedoms. Check. In return we got handed trillions more in debt, ongoing wars, the Patriot Act, the ongoing NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) and out of control laws and spending. I could write on and on causes and this area. Republican or Democrat, they work for "we the people" and represent our government that is paid by "we the people." The start of the free checks to help the unemployed started under Trump administration and once the other party assumed control of the House and Senate it turned in to a "let me pay you to stay home and not work" program. Regardless of who is in office, how is this good for our nation? Small family business owners got crushed during the Covid-19 era and box stores boomed. Who is leading us through this period in our history? Both parties. They are both responsible.

I am not writing this to bash either party or the candidates put forth to lead this great nation. We, as a nation, are out of control in many areas. To identify a person as a leader at this point would be a crap shoot to be honest. We must fix our nation morally first and foremost to get control of many of the basic rules to have and maintain a sound foundation. Oh wait, this was identified by our forefathers in our Constitution and Declaration of Independence I thought.

So lets scale this discussion back to the basics. If your home encountered out of control spending, a lack of leadership and morals, failed decisions and actions, who would be to blame? The leader of the home. That can be a male or female because many homes today are single adult home owners and leaders. When our Patriot brother was concerned because we don't see a leader stepping up to lead the Patriots I asked him, who is the leader of his home. He answered that he was. I paused and then stated, "you have your answer." Huh? We recently learned how corrupt the voting system is in our nation. How can we honestly expect any person to get a fair shot to lead at the Washington D.C. level? If you have been paying half attention to what has been happening, you should already be saying "something is wrong." We must be the leaders so many are looking for and missing the opportunity.

Over the past year HFS has been discussing, especially in the Thursday Zoom sessions, the need to be a leader and get involved in the local community. First and foremost a home must have a leader. These leaders must step out and start participating in their communities. If you don't like how something is going, write your elected officials and do so in numbers. Take control of your home and community. Community leaders can and will impact state government. State governments must then unite to voice and take back control of the federal system. Many of us veterans who served a term or 20 years look across our great nation with disgust over the condition of our nation, states, and homes around America. Crime, debt, education, lack of Patriotism, disrespect for our flag, Constitution, parents, and fellow man. Fixing Washington at this point still leaves the national problem just mentioned. Our nation must see "we the people" in action to restore the above areas and it will not happen overnight. It took years to get to this point and it will take years to turn the corner back to our foundation. Are you ready to get started?

Along with all the things mentioned above, one of the most important factors in our foundation practiced and documented in our history is the inclusion of God and faith. Let me say not all Patriots are religious nor do they practice prayer or reading a Bible. I have had amazing friends in the military who did not believe in God and they didn't chastise me or treat me any differently because I did pray and believe in God. But for those who do believe and do practice prayer as a daily ritual must be praying harder and fix what is broken and mend what is damaged or frayed. WE can't pray for God to fix the problems we created or watched being created but we can pray for His guidance and forgiveness for our nation while we step out and work hard to fix the problems our nation created. We won't always have the answers and hopefully through prayer what direction is needed will be answered. I have heard a few voices echo "how could God allow this to happen to us?" Think about that question while looking around the homes and communities you live, work, and visit. We see many of the same problems. Right?

I will close my thoughts by saying this. We have a choice. We can cave to ashes and continue throwing our shoes at the television or else we can put our shoulders back and step out. There are many who read this weekly newsletter but do nothing to prepare while witnessing the same things those preparing are witnessing. Many still believe the system will fix itself because historically it always has. Really? Do you want to rely on someone else to fix things from the top down? Why not take a stand and start fixing things from the ground up. I have never witnessed a home that stood after building the roof before the foundation. Have you?

For those who garden or want to learn about gardening, our Patriot brother from the Atlanta area sent this link to me to share with other Patriots. Rare Heirloom Seeds| Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds (rareseeds.com) You will find some great information at this link to include heirloom seeds, tips, and seasonal growing of what type of items. Here is an example of this week's tips:

What to plant in mid September

Fall is nearly upon us, this means gorgeous weather and bountiful harvests, but it does not have to be the end of your gardening season! September is an excellent month to get some of our favorite nutritious vegetables in the ground. Depending on your gardening region, September can be just the beginning of a long, beautiful growing season (hello southern gardeners!).

As your summer crops come to an end, it is a great time to clear out beds and make space for a September seeding session. To choose the right seeds to sow, you will want to take into account your growing region, impending frost dates and specific gardening and culinary preferences;

September in the South

If you are a mild winter/ southern gardener, September is an excellent month to sow seeds for your winter time garden. Upper south gardeners (examples are South Carolina, Southern Arkansas, Sacramento and similar climates) can sow short season, cold loving crops like spinach, radish, kale, beets, Swiss chard, bunching onions, Asian cutting celery like Pink Celery, arugula, endive, peas, radicchio, pansy, and a range of delicious Asian greens like bok choy, mizuna, mustard greens and tatsoi.

Warm/hot winter gardeners in the deep south (South Georgia, Florida, South Texas, Southern California and similar climates) have many options when it comes to September planting. The long mild winter ahead is perfect for arugula, carrots, beets, daikon radish, broccoli, kale, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, peas, Brussels sprouts, celery, celeriac, lettuce, spinach, celtuce, turnips, marigolds, pansy, Asian turnips, onions (both short day and bunching types), Swiss chard, and Asian greens like bok choy, mizuna, mustard greens, and tatsoi.

September in the North

The options for mid September planting are just a bit more slim for northern growers, however what the cold winter grower lacks in option, they more than make up for in quality, as certain vegetables take on an exceptional flavor when exposed to cold and light frosts! We encourage you northern gardeners to make space in your beds for some delectable fall crops, it's not too late!

Whether you are in the mid-northern states or far north, we cannot change things like waning day length, weaker sun exposure (unless you invest in a greenhouse with supplemental lighting). This means that most northern gardeners are going to be limited to the very quick maturing crops to squeeze in during September, as short days and cold weather will slow or stop plant growth very soon. Try radishes (especially quick maturing radishes like de 18 jours and French Breakfast), lettuce, kale, arugula as well as Asian greens like tatsoi, bok choy and mizuna. This is also a great time to get beds ready for planting garlic cloves, which can go into the ground in October.

Even if you have never gardened or grown a blade of grass, now is the time to start learning and figuring out what works for you in your climate and soil. Waiting until you are hungry and your garden is your only source of food is to late. As my grandfather used to say, "get on it."

Most of the four years of the previous administration was focused on Russia and the threat they could pose while China was the real threat and continued developing a larger military and equipment capabilities. China is not happy about the most recent military pact signed between the US of A, the United Kingdom, with Australia. If you want to know more on the real threat posed by China check out this presentation. No, it is not about the current US leader's son and his relationship with the Chinese government. A possible war with China could be very close and very real. This is a must see. It has over 400,000 views in 24 hours. While you watch it, remember all the accusations made against our current government for being puppets of the Chinese government.

And that is it for my thoughts this week. Let's move along now to some preparedness and other news for the week.

Preparedness News

1. From Todd - Prepared Christians - Bible Study for Preppers - Bringing Back Bible Study (preparedchristians.com) - If you haven't been paying attention, home Bible study has been growing to amazing numbers the past five plus years. Including Bible study in your preparedness training should be considered. I know several solid Christians not attending an organized church however they may do more Bible study today than when attending a church.

2. From April K. - Ask a Prepper - The Survival Wild Game Nutritional Guide - Ask a Prepper - This is a great article to have and consider printing for the paper library. Any kind of grid down situation going more than a year to eighteen months will likely include wild game. A shortage of wildlife could come sooner in some areas.

3. From Linda Loosli - Food Storage Moms - How To Build A Power Outage Kit - Food Storage Moms - I could say it is entertaining to have conversations with the unprepared on the "what if" questions but because it is such a serious matter it would be unfair of me, right?

4. From Cache Valley Prepper - Survivopedia - Survival First Aid: Treating the "Three Killers" - Survivopedia - Basic first aide is one of the most overlooked preparedness skills. Many purchase great medical kits and bags yet never find the time to take basic first aide training.

5. From Kyt Lyn Walken - Apartment Prepper - Coffee Substitutes in the Wild – Apartment Prepper - I don't know about you but I really look forward to my daily coffee. We stock coffee as part of our preparedness resources but I do have thoughts about what happens when our coffee runs out. Yikes.

Drum roll...........

That's all my Patriot brothers and sisters.

Prayers - Please keep our great nation, our elected leaders, military and first responders in your thoughts and prayers. We pray for good health and wisdom. Please pray for our leadership to find answers and guidance to the problems facing our great nation. May your faith remain strong and answers to the unknown provided. God is good and may our prayers blanket and protect you and your circumstances. I pray for each, and every one of our Patriots.

May we pray for all the blessings and things in life to be thankful about and continued hope for revival around the world. We must continually pray for the unsaved, our family and friends who live each day without the protection for eternal life and salvation.

We have Patriots with personal prayer needs and/or family members with prayer needs as well.

As we have prayer needs for answers to health and family matters we also have prayers of thanks for recent health answers and recoveries.

We all must pray strong and often for the citizens of our great nation. Many of our sisters and brothers are struggling daily with things they witness, encounter, and are surprised with out of the norm. Many times we are in unchartered areas, however, we still must keep our faith and focus on the big picture. Our prayers and faithful strength together will be required often to battle the evils being thrown upon all of us minute by minute.

As Patriots we must stay strong and never give up. Our home, community and nation needs us now more than ever. Stay focused on your local community and things that will impact you around the nation. Don't allow the events around you to create fear in your life. Build your own self-reliance and focus on hope. Remember we are a blessed nation and we must continue to be great people today and make a better tomorrow. Keep charging.

Blessings,

Bravo Echo Out,
